Does deleting my Facebook account delete direct messages to others?

  Hey, I have had conversations with some people on my facebook account that I’m not very proud of. I have decided to completely erase my fb account. I was wondering if deleting my Facebook account also deletes direct messages that I have sent to others? If that happens that will be very great. Do you know for sure if it is possible?
